Meet Sadie

Meet Sadie, a sweet girl born with microtia and ear canal atresia of the left ear. Sadie was 3 weeks old when she had her visit at Vanderbilt. At 14 months of age, Sadie began wearing a softband bone-anchored hearing aid, allowing her to hear through sound vibrations that are sent through her skull bone, directly to your inner ear. At age 3 Sadie attended her first Microtia and Atresia Clinic at Vanderbilt where all Microtia reconstruction options were discussed. After consideration of all options and waiting for the appropriate age, Sadie had her Porous Polyethelyne (PPE) ear surgery done in the spring of 2021.

“Our daughter, Sadie was born with Microtia and hearing loss in July of 2016. She had her first visit at Vanderbilt at one month old. We didn’t know what to expect but we knew as soon as we stepped into the clinic Sadie would be in great hands.  We returned on scheduled visits and always met with the utmost care for our daughter.”

“At the age of 4,  Sadie underwent Microtia ear reconstructive surgery and now 6 months later, Sadie is doing amazing!”

“We’ve been going to the clinic now for over 5 years and everyone from Dr. Stephan to the nurses to coordinator Keisha Conway and all the wonderful staff have given us the absolute best care and kindness any parent or child could ask for. They were quick to answer any emails, calls, questions, or concerns. We are thankful for Sadie always leaving with smiles and for the best experience for our family. We highly recommend this clinic and as always, Sadie cannot wait to go back and see everyone.” -Ellie Scott

“Dr. Sadie Scott going to school to be like Dr. Stephan to help kids who need their ears fixed like mine” – Sadie
