Reconstructive Otoplasty

Reconstructive Otoplasty – is a surgical technique that can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. A defect or misshapen ear can be congenital and present at birth or can be post-traumatic due to an injury after development. A malformation in the ear structure that is present at birth or that becomes apparent with development can be corrected by otoplasty. Otoplasty creates a more natural shape while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Otoplasty can be performed patients age five and older or once the cartilage is stable enough for correction. Otoplasty can utilize rib cartilage for augmentation of the outer ear.

Congenital Otoplasty – ear reconstruction that can help re-shape or re-position the ear due to being misshapen at birth (augmented using rib cartilage).

Post-traumatic Otoplasty – ear reconstruction that can help re-shape or re-position the outer ear due to trauma following development (augmented using rib cartilage).
