Annual Vanderbilt University Medical Center Microtia and Atresia Conference
Each summer, the Microtia and Atresia Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center hosts it’s Annual Microtia and Atresia educational conference, taking place at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Families will be given the opportunity to learn about all of the options that are available for Microtia and Atresia. The Vanderbilt Microtia and Atresia Clinic staff look forward to meeting families at the conference and in helping everyone get the much needed answers they are looking for. A parent panel will be available at the end of the conference that will help families hear from patients who have had surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. On site childcare will be available for FREE during the conference, providing entertainment and fun crafts for children who attended.
Conference time: 8:30AM – 1:00PM

9:20am – Shi Yang, MD & Jason Park, MD: Rib cartilage-based microtia reconstruction
9:40am – Scott Stephan, MD: Microtia surgery using Porous Polyethylene Implant

10:10am – Marc Bennett, MD: Ear canal surgery (atresia repair)
10:30am – Jason Park, MD: Bone anchored hearing aid surgery and other hearing implants
10:50am – Brandy Stephens, AuD: Hearing management; Insurance
11:10am – Scott Fiscus, BCO: Anaplastology/ear prosthesis
11:30am – Scott Stephan, MD & Marc Bennett, MD: Practical Issues: Order of surgeries, recovery time, time from school, etc.

Ear Community Microtia and Atresia Family Picnic
Picnic begins at 1PM – 5PM
* An Ear Community Microtia and Atresia family picnic will follow the conference where we will have lots of fun for the kids (face painter, balloon maker, and magician), a delicious BBQ lunch from Jim N’ Nicks, lots of helpful information and the opportunity to try on the latest in hearing devices from Cochlear Americas, Oticon Medical and Med-El. Attendees will also be able to learn more about Medpor with Stryker CMF. Our Ear Community picnic is FREE! Come join us and enjoy a wonderful day together sharing experiences with families in the same situation and watch the kids play! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
